Lise Erdrich was born in Minnesota, lives in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and has worked in Indian health and education for over twenty years. She is the author of the children’s picture books and a story collection for adults Stories from Night Train, her first collection for adults, has received many awards including the Minnesota Monthly Tamarack Award. She teaches workshops in the art of Wiigwaassabakoon, pictography on birchbark scrolls. Using pictogaphs to communicate with people who speak different languages is the universal source of all alphabets, from Chinese and English to Tibetan and Ojibwe. Participants will learn about Wiigwaassabakoon from Lise and incorporate pictography in their river flag art.
